SLA's Private Pilot ground school conforms to Transport Canada's licensing requirements and is run continually throughout the year. Our classroom is equipped with state-of-the-art computer and sound system plus overhead projector for quality presentation of class materials. Students can interact with our experienced instructors in a multimedia environment and we encourage dynamic class discussions to enhance the learning experience.
According to Transport Canada's licensing requirements, the Private Pilot licence applicant must complete a minimum of 40 hours of private pilot aeroplane ground school instruction that covers the following subjects:
Our course is conducted live online via Zoom over approximately three months, with classes held every Saturday. Each session is five hours long, including a lunch break, to meet the full 40-hour requirement. If you miss a class, you may make it up during the next session. Once registered, you will have access to subsequent ground school sessions for one year at no additional cost. We strongly recommend attending our ground school, as some subjects are tailored to the aircraft type you will use for your flight training.
