How to register for flight training
Do I Need a Study Permit for Flight Training?
According to Canadian immigration laws, you must obtain a Study Permit if your training program lasts more than six months. This requires applying through your local Canadian Consulate.
However, if you are enrolling only in a short-term program of six months or less, such as a Private Pilot License (PPL), a study permit is not required. You may enter Canada as a visitor. Depending on your nationality, you may need a Visitor Visa, while others may travel with only a valid passport.
Please note that the PPL is a prerequisite for the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). If you plan to continue your training beyond the PPL and pursue the CPL you will be required to obtain a Study Permit before entering Canada.
